Soft ivory, flecked with vanilla. Blueberry seed and cranberry over a shea base — the quiet one of the three.
A note on the name: early tins are labeled Wild Bilberry. We renamed this butter to Wild Blueberry because that is what is actually in it — Vaccinium corymbosum, highbush blueberry, alongside cranberry. Same butter, more accurate name.
Wild Blueberry Body Butter is part of Common Ritual — the line built for how something feels, not just what it does. This is an anhydrous butter, meaning no water at all: shea and palm butter as the body, blueberry seed and jojoba oils for the finish, and cranberry and vanilla underneath. It goes on firm and turns to oil against warm skin.
Formulated by Rachel, Licensed Advanced Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) and Certified Skincare Coach — sensorial care, no synthetic fragrance.
Key Actives
- Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter — the backbone of the formula. Rich in fatty acids and unsaponifiables that soften skin and hold moisture against it rather than letting it evaporate away.
- Vaccinium Corymbosum (Blueberry) Seed Oil — a genuinely uncommon oil, cold-pressed from the seed and high in both linoleic and linolenic acids. It is light for a fruit oil and brings antioxidant activity that shea alone does not.
- Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract — the second half of the berry story. Cranberry is unusual among fruit extracts for its balance of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and it supports skin through weather and friction.
- Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil — structurally close to the skin's own sebum, which is why it sinks in rather than sitting on top. It is what keeps this butter from feeling heavy.
- C13-15 Alkane — a plant-derived emollient that gives the butter its dry finish and the reason you can put clothes on afterward.
- Tocopherol (Vitamin E) — an antioxidant that protects the fruit oils in the formula from going off, and conditions skin while it's there.
Who It's For
Anywhere you want skin to feel looked after. Rich enough for the places that take real abuse — hands, heels, elbows, shins — but light enough that most people end up using it everywhere, straight out of the shower.
Common Ritual products are built around how something feels to use. This one is for the minute at the end of the day when you are not fixing anything in particular.
Of the three butters, this is the least scented. If you want something you can smell, reach for Sunlit Aurantium. If you want a butter that does not announce itself, this is the one.
What to Expect
Firm in the tin, oil on the skin. It takes a moment of warmth between your fingers before it spreads, and that pause is the formula working as intended — a butter that spread instantly would be softer and greasier than this one. Skin stays comfortable for hours, and the places that were rough soften noticeably over a week or two of regular use.
A soft ivory butter, finely flecked with darker specks from the vanilla and cranberry. Both are meant to be there. No colorant has been added, and it does not tint skin.
How to Use
- Scoop a small amount — less than you think, this goes further than lotion.
- Warm it between your fingertips until it turns to oil.
- Press and smooth it over skin rather than rubbing briskly — arms, legs, shoulders, wherever you like.
- Best applied to slightly damp skin straight after a shower, which gives it moisture to seal in.
- Go back over anywhere that wants more. Hands, heels, and elbows usually do.
Keep water out of the tin. This formula contains no water and therefore needs no preservative — but water introduced on wet fingers can spoil it. Use dry hands or a small scoop.

Safety & Warnings ▾
For external use only. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Contains beeswax. Avoid if you have a known bee product allergy.
Body only. This is a rich anhydrous butter and is not formulated for the face. It may feel heavy or occlusive on facial skin.
Keep water out of the tin. This formula has no water and no preservative system. Introducing water on wet fingers can allow microbial growth. Use dry hands or a scoop, and close the lid firmly.
Store away from heat and light. Fruit seed oils are the first thing to age in a formula like this. A cupboard, not a windowsill.
Fabric: This is an oil-rich anhydrous butter. Give it a minute to absorb before dressing, as you would any body oil, to avoid marking clothing or bedding.
Patch test: New to this formula? Apply a small amount to the inner forearm and observe for 24 hours before first full use.
Pregnancy or nursing: As with any product containing botanical oils, consult your healthcare provider if you have questions about use during pregnancy or while nursing.
Keep out of reach of children.
Frequently Asked Questions ▾
My tin says Wild Bilberry. Is this the same product?
Yes. We renamed it. Bilberry is a different plant from blueberry, and this formula contains blueberry seed oil — so the name was changed to match what is actually in the jar. Nothing about the butter itself has changed.
Is there any blueberry fruit in it?
Blueberry seed oil, cold-pressed from the seed rather than the fruit, plus cranberry fruit extract. The oil is where the useful part lives.
There are little specks in it — is that normal?
Yes, and they are the good part. Those flecks are vanilla and cranberry extract, left visible because nothing here has been filtered or bleached into uniformity. They are not mold, not spoilage, and not a fault. A body butter made from real botanical material tends to look like it.
Why isn't it purple, if it has blueberry in it?
Because the useful part of a blueberry is not the part that is purple. This uses cold-pressed seed oil, which is pale, rather than fruit pulp — pulp would bring water and sugar into a formula built to have neither. The color you see is unrefined shea.
Why does it feel hard at first?
It is a true anhydrous butter with no water and no emulsifier, so it stays firm until warmed. Rub a small amount between your fingers for a few seconds and it turns to oil. That firmness is why a 2 oz tin lasts as long as it does.
Can I use it on my face?
We would not recommend it. This is formulated for body skin and is heavier than most people want on the face.
There's no preservative — is that safe?
Yes, because there is no water in it. Microbes need water to grow, so anhydrous formulas do not require a preservative system. The one thing that breaks that is introducing water yourself, which is why we ask you to use dry hands or a scoop.
Is this product vegan?
No. It contains beeswax. It is cruelty-free and never tested on animals, but it is not vegan.
What's the shelf life?
12 months from production, stored away from heat and direct sun. If it is left somewhere warm it may soften or melt — this does not spoil it, and it will re-firm, though the texture may be grainier afterward. LOT and production date are printed on each tin.
