A sugar polish that dissolves as you use it. Bright skin without the sandpaper.

Ritual Brightening Face Polish is part of Lucent Formulary — a cleansing polish that exfoliates three ways at once. Sugar does the physical work and then melts away as it meets water, so the scrubbing stops before it can go too far. Pineapple enzymes loosen dull surface cells without friction. Turmeric and apple fruit cell culture extract work on tone. A gentle cleansing base means it lifts the day off at the same time, so this is not a step you have to fit in around your cleanser — it replaces one.

Formulated by Rachel, Licensed Advanced Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) and Certified Skincare Coach — barrier-conscious exfoliation, no added fragrance.

🌿 Scent note: No fragrance has been added. The faint warmth you'll notice comes from the manuka honey and botanical oils in the formula.

Key Actives

  • Sucrose (Sugar) — the exfoliant, and the reason this is gentler than it sounds. Sugar granules are rounded rather than jagged, and they dissolve on contact with water, so the abrasion tapers off as you work rather than continuing at full strength until you stop.
  • Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract — a source of bromelain, an enzyme that loosens the bonds holding dull surface cells in place. It does chemically what scrubbing does mechanically, which means less pressure is needed from your hands.
  • Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Powder — a traditional brightening botanical with well-documented antioxidant activity, used here for tone rather than for scent or color.
  • Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture Extract — apple stem cell extract, included for its antioxidant and protective activity in the surface layers of the skin.
  • Leptospermum Scoparium Mel (Manuka Honey) — humectant and soothing, and the reason skin feels comfortable rather than stripped after rinsing.
  • Jojoba, Evening Primrose, and Panthenol — the buffer. Jojoba and evening primrose oils cushion the exfoliation, and panthenol keeps skin comfortable through it. Exfoliation without this kind of support is where scrubs earn their bad reputation.

Who It's For

Skin that looks dull, tired, flat, or uneven, and texture that makeup catches on. Suits normal, combination, and oily skin well. Dry skin usually does fine at once a week.

Not the right product for actively inflamed skin, cystic breakouts, or a compromised barrier. Physical exfoliation on skin that is already irritated makes it worse. Come back to this when things have settled.

What to Expect

Skin looks brighter and feels smoother immediately after the first use — that part is the exfoliation, and it is real but temporary. The tone work from turmeric and apple cell culture is slower, and shows up as a more even, more luminous look over four to six weeks of steady use.

More is not better here. Twice a week does more for your skin over a month than daily use does, because daily use leaves skin less comfortable and slower to settle.

How to Use

  1. Start with damp skin — not soaking, just wet.
  2. Warm a small amount between your fingertips.
  3. Massage over the face in light circles for about thirty seconds. Let the sugar do the work; do not press.
  4. Add a little water and keep going for a few seconds as the sugar dissolves and the formula turns into a light cleanser.
  5. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.
  6. Follow with your serum and moisturizer.

Use once or twice a week. Begin at once weekly and add the second use only if your skin stays comfortable.

Safety & Warnings ▾

For external use only. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Pressure, not frequency, is what causes damage. This polish works with light contact. If your skin looks red or feels tight after use, you are pressing too hard or using it too often — not both necessarily, but at least one.

Turmeric can stain. Rinse thoroughly, and use a dark or dedicated cloth to dry. A faint warm tint on the skin after rinsing fades within a few minutes; on light-colored towels and washcloths it may not come out.

Eye area: Avoid. This is an exfoliant with a cleansing base and it will sting. If product enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with cool water.

Do not use on compromised skin: Avoid on broken, sunburned, windburned, or actively inflamed skin, over active breakouts, or within a week of a professional peel or resurfacing treatment.

Sun sensitivity: Exfoliation leaves fresh skin at the surface. Daily SPF matters more, not less, while you are using this.

Contains manuka honey. Avoid if you have a known honey or bee product allergy.

Patch test: New to this formula? Apply a small amount to the inner forearm and observe for 24 hours before first full use.

Pregnancy or nursing: As with any skincare product, consult your healthcare provider if you have questions about use during pregnancy or while nursing.

Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions ▾

Isn't a face scrub bad for your barrier?
Harsh ones are. The damage usually comes from three things: jagged particles, too much pressure, and using it too often. This formula addresses the first by using sugar that dissolves as you work, and the label addresses the other two. Exfoliation is not the problem — over-exfoliation is.

Will the turmeric stain my skin?
It can leave a faint warm tint immediately after rinsing, which fades within a few minutes. Towels are the real concern — use a dark or dedicated washcloth, because turmeric on white cotton often does not come out.

Do I still need a cleanser?
Not on the nights you use this. It contains a gentle cleansing base, so it replaces your cleanser rather than adding a step. If you wear heavy makeup or sunscreen, cleanse first and use this second.

How often should I use it?
Once or twice a week. Start at once and only add the second use if your skin stays comfortable. Daily use of any physical exfoliant will eventually leave skin less comfortable.

Can I use it with my acids or retinoid?
Not on the same night. Give exfoliation its own evening and return to your actives the following day.

Is this product vegan?
No. It contains manuka honey. It is cruelty-free and never tested on animals, but it is not vegan.

Can I use it on my body?
Yes, though it is formulated for the face and a 2 oz jar will not go far on larger areas. Knees, elbows, and the backs of the hands are where it earns its keep.

What's the shelf life?
Unopened, 12 months from production. Once opened, use within 6 months for best quality. Keep water out of the jar — use dry hands or a small scoop. LOT and production date are printed on each container.
