What to Expect

Smoother lips immediately — this is a mechanical exfoliant and the result is instant. Flakes lift as the sugar dissolves, and the cocoa butter and oils absorb rather than sitting on top, so lips are left soft instead of greasy. Colour goes on more evenly afterward, which is why most people end up using this before makeup.

How to Use

  1. Give it a quick stir with a clean fingertip. The oils settle a little between uses, and stirring brings the sugar and butter back into balance.
  2. Scoop a small amount with a clean fingertip.
  3. Massage gently onto lips in small circles. Light pressure — lip skin is thin.
  4. Keep going until it absorbs. The sugar dissolves as you work and the oils sink in, leaving lips soft rather than coated.
  5. If you've used a generous scoop, there may be a little left over — wipe it away with a tissue or damp cloth.
  6. Follow with balm if lips still feel like they want it.

Use once or twice a week. More than that and you'll be sanding lips that were already smooth.

Keep water out of the jar. This formula contains no water and therefore needs no preservative — but water introduced on wet fingers can spoil it. Use dry hands or a small scoop.

Because lip products are inevitably ingested in small amounts, this is not a product to patch test and hope — if you or anyone who might use it has a tree nut allergy, do not buy it.

Coconut: Contains coconut oil and coconut extract. Coconut allergy is uncommon but real.

Not for children under one year. Honey should not be given to infants.

Use gentle pressure. Lip skin is thinner than facial skin. Scrubbing hard will make chapping worse, not better.

Is it safe to swallow?
The trace amount that comes off during normal use is fine — it is sugar, food oils, honey, and natural flavor. It is not food, and it should not be eaten from the jar, but you do not need to worry about what ends up on your tongue.

I have a nut allergy. Can I use it?
No. It contains sweet almond oil, and almond is a tree nut. On a lip product this matters more than it would on a body product, because small amounts are ingested. Please skip this one.

Is this product vegan?
No. It contains manuka honey. It is cruelty-free and never tested on animals, but it is not vegan.

What is the mica for?
A soft gilded shimmer, and nothing else. It is not a colorant and it will not tint your lips.

How often should I use it?
Once or twice a week. Lip skin is thin and delicate — exfoliating more often gives you nothing and can leave lips sore.

Before or after balm?
Before. Polish first, let it absorb, then balm on smooth lips if you want it. Most people use it in the morning before colour goes on.

The oils look like they've settled on top. Is that normal?
Completely. Sugar is heavier than oil, so a little settling between uses is expected in any anhydrous scrub — it is not separation and nothing has gone wrong. A quick stir with a clean fingertip brings it back together, which is why that is step one. In a warm room the whole thing softens and looks looser; in a cold one it firms up. Neither is a fault.

What's the shelf life?
12 months from production, stored away from heat and direct sun. Keep water out of the jar. LOT and production date are printed on each container.
